Utility of the Future by Industry Peers

Visionary. That’s one way to describe the Clayton County Water Authority, recognized in the global water authority industry for its sustainability practices.

Despite having limited surface or ground water supplies available, Clayton County Water Authority has developed the use of treatment wetlands for the recycling of treated wastewater.

The Authority provides water, sewer, and storm water services to more than 250,000 people throughout Clayton County and its 7 cities. The Authority has 5 raw water reservoirs and can produce up to 42 million gallons per day of potable water and treat up to 38.4 million gallons of wastewater every day.

Newman Wetlands Center

Newman Wetlands Center is a nature area dedicated to environmental education, owned and operated by Clayton County Water Authority. Traveling the mile of trails through wetland and forest habitats, visitors can develop a deeper understanding of conservation for protecting our local watersheds. The center includes a classroom and exhibits for school and civic groups.
