Only 12 miles south of downtown Atlanta, Clayton County is a primary hub for transportation and logistics. Interstate highways, rail freight, access to deep sea ports, public transportation, and the busiest airport in the world make Clayton County into a logistics powerhouse.

Air

Clayton County is home to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest airport in the world. Hartsfield-Jackson serves nearly 100 million passengers a year on 87 airlines flying to/from 47 countries.

Rail

Two Class I railways, CSX and Norfolk Southern, offer direct rail connections to the Port of Savannah within four hours. They also transport goods efficiently throughout the United States.

Public Transportation

Clayton County is served by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) which provides scheduled bus service throughout the county and into downtown Atlanta. Passengers who take the bus to the airport can also take a MARTA train to other parts of Atlanta.

Highways

Four major interstate highways – I-75, I-85, I-285, and I-675 – travel through Clayton County, with 19 exits. Interstate 20 is less than 10 miles away. These interstates combine with major four-lane highways such as U.S. 19/41 and GA 42 to give businesses excellent access to the means to move products to market.

Ports

The Port of Savannah is the single largest and fastest-growing container terminal in the U.S. and, thanks to fast and efficient rail and highway connections, is within four hours of Clayton County. The Port of Brunswick, only an hour south of Savannah, is the nation’s second busiest port for import and export of roll-on, roll-off (Ro/Ro) cargo and handles products from automobiles to bulk commodities. The Port of Charleston, SC is another top 10 U.S. container port.
